We used the permanent forest inventory database of the ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune du Québec to draw a portrait of the actual distribution of the trees (DBH ‘diameter at breast height’ >10 cm) of the 5 most frequent species in each of the 11 bioclimatic sub-domains found in Quebec. Because our goal was to set a reference, we used only data from forest inventory plots that have not been disturbed by human since at least 10 years (usually 30).
